Why does your artificial grass burn or melt?
Turf melt is becoming an increasingly common problem for homeowners. If you find your lawn melted or faded stripes, the culprit is likely that the nearby window, which is more than likely a low E window. Low-e glass is a treated glass with an energy-saving coating. Coated glass has a transparent microscopic layer of metal that reflects heat but still allows light to pass.
These windows help reduce the heat entering the house, so more and more home builders install them. However, they can also be a giant magnifying glass, melting turf, siding, and even nearby parked cars. Low E windows are double-glazed and are often slightly distorted with a concaved center.
